Verdi's Requiem

This weekend I went to hear Verdi's Requiem with Riccardo Mutti conducting the Philadelphia Orchestra, back from a nearly 15 year leave during his time with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for this special concert weekend. It was clear to see his love for the orchestra, and the passion with which the musicians played as a unified masterpiece. Even though I was not too familiar with this piece, it was exciting to her and see.

It reminded me how important music is to culture, and make me so glad that orchestras such as the Philadelphia are still going strong and having good attendance. These institutions do so much for our downtowns, tourism, and continuing to honor the arts and history.
